Adventures of Zane and Jace

Keep on Dancin’ May 14, 2009

Today was a big day for Jace.  Not only did he have his first visit to the dentist (which we hope to post later) but he also had his first dance recital.

At Jace’s preschool they have someone come in from Dance, Dance, Dance once a week to teach dance to the kids.  It is one of those things that lets them have a little fun and great to see how they can move around.   Each week, Jace comes home and talks about having dance and at the end they get a “special stamp” of some kind for doing a good job.

Well tonight we got to see a little performance from those 3-4 year olds.  We were supposed to see something around Christmas time, but it got snowed out and they weren’t able to reschedule it.  So we were pretty excited to see what all he has been doing.  So here is the inaugural performance from Jace:

As expected it took a little to get warmed up, but doesn’t he look cute?  Here is the next song.

Their theme was a Pajama Dance Party and they got to wear pajamas and they all had a little teddy bear that they danced with.  At this point he was really into his dance.  Waking up is hard to do.  Jace shows us that every morning :)   :

Then they had their longest performance of the night!

By this time, the little guy next to Jace left to see what his mom was filming.  He was like, “let me see!!”

As they got over the hump and down the back stretch to finish the performance, this is where the dancing gets really exciting.  Not just Jace, but the ones around him as well.  Hilarity ensues.

At this point, I ran out of video.  We have this little cheap video camera we were using and had a bunch of light coming in the windows which made it a little hard to see, but anyway it was a fun time had by all and you could tell Jace had a great time.  He said as he went to bed tonight that he wants to “Keep dancin’ mom and dad”

A Mother and Her Boys May 10, 2009

A year ago for Mother’s Day we started this blog.  The idea behind it was to create memories.  Memories for us, memories for our Boys and memories for our family and friends.  Though we may not have posted as much as we have liked, it has been a great year full of many memories.   Tessie has helped create all of these great memories.

Being a mother is tough enough, but she has taken it so much farther.   Whether it is another OScraps “Challenge” where she continues to become an Adobe Photoshop pro or just uploading to Flickr to share some of these creations with Family and Friends, there is one thing she continues to do and that is love our boys.   She always captures those precious moments.

Each page with the special memory of just going to the park, or losing that first tooth, or encapsulating a summer trip into one page just amazes me.

The first Art Show, the first BB Gun, playing in the snow, reading books or even eating a bowl of cereal.  It is the simple things in life that we remember but yet take for granted.

Artshow

My wife continues to be one of the strongest people I know and brings out the best in others.  That strength is what helps this family each day.

Tessie

But what also special to me is that she still has time to keep us all organized, doing different projects and always making sure the boys are taken care of even when she is gone.  She is a great wife and mother and deserves to be honored not only for today on Mother’s Day, but all days.

Family

Thank you Tessie for being a great wife and a great mother.  I look forward to more memories with our boys and continuing to walk down that path together to watch them grow.  Happy Mother’s Day!!

The Kids Say Hi May 5, 2009

While mommy is out of town this week learning great things and having some well deserved away time, the boys and I have been left here to live it up.  Zane had a birthday party on Sunday and then some play time at a friend’s house.  Daddy and Jace missed out on this since Jace was battling a fever.

Since there was no school on Monday, Zane got to go to Old Chicago with his Kids Club crew for a little field trip and got to make their own pizzas for lunch. Jace was at Preschool on Monday fully recovered from his wild weekend.

Tuesday was back to school for Zane.  A beautiful day outside as both the boys got to enjoy the weather and play outside.  It was daddy’s night off from cooking so we went to Culver’s for supper.  The boys ate like it was no tomorrow and totally earned their frozen custard.  Zane was going to get the flavor of the day which was Chocolate Cheesecake (and I hoped to have a bite), but changed his mind to vanilla at the last minute.   Jace ate his Chocolate like usual and was a delight to clean after he was done.  I guess daddy should have got his own custard.  Doh!

But they wanted to talk to their mommy.  Since mommy has missed out hearing Zane read this week, Zane decided to read a book to her to watch!

Jace wanted to say hi as well.  You can tell he really loves mom.    Kisses and all.

e just wanted to tell mommy that we love her and that we are excitedly waiting for her arrival home later this week.   We are holding the fort down pretty well.
